We are UP 21% already this year and UP $3,367 this month!
We are saying goodbye to some Free Trial Toadsters who will drop off the list this weekend - they will be "Toadless"(ugh!) if they don't subscribe. For the rest of you, the market is closed Monday so we will be at the beach on Monday and will see you here by the pond Tuesday morning.

Been looking at a lot of charts from today, take a look at some charts of both the calls and puts; it was a day to stay outta the pond! Notice that you coulda lost money this afternoon on both the puts and the calls because we stayed in a trading range from right before noon. There were a couple of opportunities to make 1/2 - but they didn't last long. Think we put it best on Update #2 today when we said: ...it was an "ugly dog" we were following and we tried to push a trade.
Remember, we are off on Monday and watch the Jaguars tomorrow! Look for us at the game on Saturday (12:30 kickoff) and look for us at the beach on Monday!

like we are trying to push a trade when the signals aren't on our side.

We looked at purchasing the Jan 790 calls OEZAR at 13 1/2 or the Jan 795
calls OEZAS at 10. We didn't hop in and that is exactly where they are
right now. They haven't changed much and it looks like they might be dropping.
It's tough to consider puts with the market this high, looks like we are
stuck between 795 and 800 - if we hop, it will be for a small bit and back
out. Stay tuned.

Dr. G says not a serious problem and the CPI says inflation isn't a problem. SO it looks like we can all live with a .25% increase in interest rates. Market's headed UP, stay tuned...
1/13/00 Thursday Evening OEX + 5.23
The Jan 790 calls finished DOWN a buck from where we didn't enter. Glad we are FLAT.
Bill Gates will be the "Chief Software Architect" of MSFT and Steve Ballmer will be the new CEO. They can still run the Govt. for us.
Tomorrow is BAGEL day! I brought them last week - so it's YOUR TURN to bring the bagels!

We wanted to hop into the Jan 790 calls OEZAR. But the signals kept saying
NOPE. It did go up about a buck for a real short period of time, now it's
around where we woulda entered. Maybe Bagel day will be better for us!
We felt the market would probably go up at 3:00 and back down at 3:15 and
that's exactly what happened. Have several Toadsters who suspect
manipulation, what do YOU think? Answers from Oliver Stone will be thrown out.

If you are playing splits, it looks like MSFT is going to split, er... the government wants to split Bill Gates, er... Whatcha say, we leave MicroSoft ALONE!
Mentioned sometime ago that we should let MSFT run the government: it would be much more efficient, we would all get stock options, our taxes would be around $89.99/quarter (with manditory upgrades) and, of course, Internet Explorer would come bundled with everything!
PPI numbers come out in the morning. See you then...

MSFT down, INTC up - go figure. Read & heard a bunch of commentaries about today, my favorite went something like this: "Today's drop in the market during the last hour of trading will be followed by another retracement or if it goes back up it will be an indication that the rally has resumed."

Our mouse is tired today, we chased the Jan 790 puts OEZMR right at 3:00 and
when the market came back up, we cancelled the order. The market turned
back down and we SCW (Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda) hopped in at 12 - but that was the HIGH OF THE DAY.
Yep, we sure don't trust the after 3:00 crowd - and that includes today.
CNBC said it "may have been the bonds that caused the late sell off, but the
financials didn't fall in tandem." GO FIGURE!

We passed through the resistance at 768 and seem to have established
short-term resistance around 772. We will keep an eye on the market while

Thought I'd mention that the Jan 760 puts OEZML that we didn't buy at $18 closed the day at $14 1/2. Then the Jan 770 calls OEZAN that we didn't buy at $14 closed the day at $12 1/4. Go figure...
Looks like a lot of traders are waiting for Friday's Employment Report to use to speculate on the February FED meeting... hang on folks, we have a month of this...

Yes, I am responsible for turning the market around today. We were stopped
out of some of our INTC today. As soon as we sold INTC, the market started
back up - UNLIKE YESTERDAY when the market kept on going down...
The market doesn't ever do what you want it to do...
Look at the charts, I'll bet you can guess when we sold INTC - yep, about
the time we were considering the Jan 760 puts at $18. Still FLAT with this Year 2000 market.

Did you see what the Jan 790 puts OEZMR were going for today? We sold them yesterday at $20 and they closed out at $34 1/4 today.... awwwwwwwwww.... (A reason to hold over? Mrs. Toad says NOPE!) See you in the morning...

The sound you hear is a TOAD screaming. I didn't hop, thought the market might make up some of the losses before the close today and it sure didn't.
We would see the signals back off, going toward neutral and then head down again, did that enough today to keep us on the bank of the pond.
Looks like we will have an interesting month.

We missed the Jan 770 puts OEZMN at $16 right after 1:00 today, and we chased them a little, but were concerned we'd be getting in at the high of the day. Well, it looks like they hit 19 and we could have raised our entry some.
So, we are FLAT - ugh. Guess it's better to have chased and not hopped than to have hopped and lost... how profound.

Like we said earlier, it was a great way to start the year! We are up 24% already!
We had some Apprentice Toadsters through here back in December and showed them our tangerine and orange trees full of fruit. Little Toad and family came home yesterday to spend some birthday time with

to work the computer yet... her dad has been showing her how, so probably
next week.
What about taking off Thursday and Friday? If things keep up at this pace,

14:06 - the TICK stayed negative, but it was moving up rapidly. Then, well it was back down and I turned my internal "alarm" off... Great fake...

.50 with a negative TICK. Go figure. OEX not moving much and neither are
the Options on the OEX.

This market worked it's way DOWN till 1:00 and then worked it's way back UP
until now. All while traveling in it's closely defined range. We were waiting for another DOWN leg around 2:00 and it never showed up - we stayed within the range. So we thought maybe a CALL today - nope.
So, it doesn't look like we should be hopping today - plus I have to go find
another present for Mrs. Toad's birthday tomorrow.

Santa Claus Rally = The day before a holiday is usually a strong up day with light volume because many traders take off early.

Guess that was the Santa Claus Rally. This morning the market shot up to
OEX 792 before 10:00 and then it's been in a trading range between 792 and 795.
During the same trading range, the Jan 790 calls OEZAR have ranged between
21 and 21 1/2, the Jan 795 calls OEZAS between 17 and 18 and the Jan 800
calls OEXAT between 14 1/2 and 15 1/2.
So, not a lot of opportunity for us to get some more Christmas green today -
UNLESS we woulda hopped in yesterday and ... er, never mind - someone was
looking at PUTS yesterday!

didn't hop because of the signals... it's down 2 bucks from where we woulda
hopped in.
Now, it looks like the market is coming back down but we have a couple of
supports to take out. Another day when we have a lot of mixed signals...

We were looking at the ZAN to ZAP's today (770 to 780 calls) - they hopped up after the announcement and then just didn't move that much more. Wasn't happy with the signals, so we stayed out and are FLAT toads. Only two more trading days this week and Thursday might be questionable.
