3/5/99 Evening
Didn't trade on a day when the market went up 15 OEX points? NOPE,
we are DAYTRADERS and didn't really have a good chance to hop in - market took
off on open and then "crabbed" sideways for the rest of the day. Look at the TICK
today - it was thinking PUTS around 2:20 or so, but then the market started to take
off AGAIN. No signals to HOP and didn't trust the 3:00 crowd - so we stayed
flat - and the market went UP.
In looking at the CALLS and PUTS we were tracking - none of them moved much today after the
POP in the morning until they shot up after 3:00 and NO WAY we woulda chased them.
SO, we are FLAT and happy (hoppy?) for the weekend. Went out to eat and had a great dinner,
can sleep well this weekend.
(Little Toad is going skiing for spring break, look for a little
toad on the slopes. Wheeeeee.)

Expecting a blockbuster opening and a sustained rally. We've had our
bagels! We're watching . . .

Two important things tomorrow -
FIRST: the employment figures are released
- good employment then the bond people are afraid the FED's would
raise interest rates - with bonds dropping. Strong enough situation may affect
the stock market.
SECOND: Tomorrow is BAGEL Day and that always affects how we start
our day!

Just can't get into a market that nickel/dimes its way through the
afternoon.
Too close to 3:00 to be comfortable hopping. We never did trust that 3:00 gang.

and maybe I swore (once)....and watched.......ate lunch while I was watching......and watched....
BUT never doubted it. Errrrrr....Mrs. Toad said "Hey, this market is going down today."

Good morning, looking at the pond and the market is going up...

OK, we didn't trade today. Really wanted to trade today, the signals
weren't there - ALMOST hopped into a put around 3:00 and then it looked like
it was turning UP. It didn't and we didn't either.
Good report from
Drew Robertson of ABS live. If you haven't signed up for their FREE
emails - do it!
Drew said: "Daytrading? Forget it. You have to trade this market hour by hour. And avoid the most volatile stocks unless your
portfolio has heavy duty shocks."
OH well, the put we DIDN'T purchase closed out at 17 1/2!

Toad Update 3/2/99 #1 14:05 EMAIL and ICQ
Heavy pressure on myself to trade today - but it just hasn't been there.
Had we purchased the ever popular March 620puts (OEYOD) around 10:30,
they would be DOWN 1/2 now.
Had we purchased the March 620calls (OEYCD) around noon, they would be
DOWN $1 now.
So, we are still FLAT and watching.

We are DONE for the day.
Not going to hop into this pond today. Another weird market, and we
never got any clean signals today. That's probably good, this sucker
could go any which way. We have been "range bound" - that doesn't sound
comfortable does it?
Hit new highs not too long ago and we are STILL not going in.

Drew Robertson of ABS live said "What a mess today." and "The best thing to do today
was to stay home."
OUCH. We hopped and then the market went against us, looked like it was dumping and
it turned around. SO, we dumped our position at a loss to avoid a larger loss and to
keep from holding over.

We opened the Daytrader Toad Chat room again today. After we closed out of the
position.
We have had a lot of requests to open the room during the trading day. We have
trouble trading and get bogged down when we try to do too many things at the same
time. We did it last year for two or three days and everyone enjoyed the chats, but
the Toad couldn't get hopping.
SO, keeping in mind our mission is to HOP we won't open the room during trading
hours. Might try to open the room on a regular basis, if we do we will let you know.

Well, we hopped out of the March 620 puts (OEYOD) at 17 1/4.
We missed 19 1/2 earlier today - thought it would go higher and had
pulled our order to sell - dummy we were.
But we are out at 17 1/4.

Oops - Did we cause that??? Right after our update went out - the market
plummeted. That will teach us to sit by the pond wishing for more activity! Be
careful what you wish for - you may get it...
Didn't hop today - SCW - almost got into the Mar 640 puts (OEYOH) and wimped out...
was getting really late in the trading day for us to get into the pond.
SCW made some bucks OR we'd be holding over - I hate that...

Well, The Man speaks at 10:00; the futures market is sorta neutral;
the market shows an upward bias . . . could be another interesting

WHEW!
Glad to see today end! As most of you know, we usually track three calls and
three puts until we decide what to hop into. Well, we were so excited about
hopping today - we just clicked on the 620 PUT when we wanted to hop into
the CALL!!
Talk about a heart attack! When we discovered what we had done, well - we dumped
the puts and cried. Then the market was still going with us - (the way we shoulda
hopped) - we hopped into the calls...
It worked out - we cut our losses and only paid commissions. I think we learned a lesson today. . .
By the way, had we hopped into the correct option (A CALL!) when we originally hopped -
well, we woulda made some bucks today...
Going to go pour another glass of wine. See you in the morning.

Not sure why I stayed watching the market today - would have had to be a
real KILLER of a move to cause us to hop the day before OPTIONS
EXPIRATION FRIDAY!
We are celebrating our wedding anniversary tonight and will be going out
to dinner with friends.
Will NOT be trading or watching the pond tomorrow, you know how we feel
about OPTIONS EXPIRATION FRIDAY! If you trade tomorrow, you trade TOADLESS -
we DON'T TRADE on these days.
We will have bagels in the morning - but no market.

Didn't trust the market today (could be because it's Options Expiration Week -
have I ever mentioned that I hate Options Expiration Week?) - wanted to trade a put
around 2:00 and didn't know if the market had enough downward pressure to get our money out in time. Well, you
see what happened - the tick backed off and we didn't think it would last - WRONG.

Hello, we are back with the living (sort of) and have been watching the
pond.
Didn't trust our reaction time to hop in earlier today because we didn't
want to have you all follow a delirious toad into the pond when we are
facing a three day weekend.
How appropriate - "President's Day"....
So, we are still here, just about to have a bowl of chicken fly soup for
lunch.
Will let you know if we get too tempted and hop.

2/9/99 Evening
It's pretty bad here by the pond, Mrs. Toad has been helping and
she has learned more than she wanted to about updating the site and
sending out email/ICQ messages. Bad news is that both Toad and Mrs.
Toad have the flu.
We might both take off tomorrow if one of us doesn't
feel better. Even the fly noodle soup, as recommended by one of the Toadsters,
hasn't helped. Will update the site and let you know if we are going
to take a "sick day."
Also, our communications screwed up earlier today, we hopped out of the
Feb 610 puts (OEYNB) at 10 1/2 not 11. I wanted at least $11, but was
going downhill fast - so we changed it from $12 sell to 10 1/2 and hopped
out. Then I went back to bed and Mrs. Toad sent the emails and ICQ's -
she knew I was looking for 1 and we got more than $1 yesterday - so she thought
we got $11 - didn't, only got 10 1/2. BUT, for those Toadsters who stayed in -
that sucker hit $13 today!
